After a few days of rough seas I took a walk along Long Beach out on the Island in Nassau County, New York where I was visiting. The surf had a lot of breakers and foam.

I have always felt a strong connection to this beach and the waves. I took my first baby steps on this beach and used to visit my cousin often who lives here. I would take walks, dig for crabs and shells,or ride my bike on the boardwalk. This is my favorite place to connect with the sounds of the ebb and flow of the waves,  and de-stress or feel lulled to sleep and calmed by the rhythms of the sea. On this particular day while on our walk, My husband and I saw a seal resting by the rocks sunbathing. This was quite unusual, but I guess he was exhausted by the rough seas. Beach Patrol was nearby to protect and to keep beach goers away.
