I painted this scene in response to my Pastel Society's adventure series challenge , "Movement." I love to watch clouds drift and move.
This cloud moved in as I was gazing at the mountain scenery at Craggy Dome off the Blue Ridge Parkway. There was a contrast with stormy clouds in the background and sun and puffy clouds in the foreground. I used a wash in the under painting which added interesting effects and used soft pastels over the wash.
