"Painting is a companion with whom one may hope to walk a great part of life's journey"
Winston Churchill
In the pursuit of doing things that I love, I paint what pulls at my heart strings. Art is fun, healing, inspiring, and transforming. My style is realism with a touch of impressionism. My paintings are conversations that weave together the medium I choose, with colors, textures, and the emotions I feel. I carefully pay attention to value, light, depth, color harmony and composition. I let my intuition and experience guide me through the process.
A specialty of mine is painting animals in a realistic style. It is a “getting to know you process” in which their personalities shine and we become kindred spirits. I have been told that I breathe life into my paintings. Well the reverse is also true.
Pastels allow me to make intimate contact with the surface using various strokes, blending and layering. The colors are rich, vibrant, soft and playful.
I take refuge in my studio and also paint Plein Aire studies which bring me closer to nature, with its ever changing light, shadows, and sounds. I love painting landscapes. Nature has the capacity to heal and quiet down the noises that intrude on every day life. It is my spiritual resting place.
"If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere."
Vincent Van Gogh
I continue to challenge and refresh my senses with new techniques and open myself up to to new experiences. It is a joyful and rewarding journey. I have just fulfilled my life long dream to write, illustrate, and publish a children’s book.
